Glastonbury’s Business Person of the Year, 2011

by Comment 0

“Like father, like son”. On January 25, 2012, Steve Weir of American Integrity Restoration (AIR) will be honored with the 2011 Business Person of the Year by the Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce. His father, Dennis Weir, won that same award back in 1996, making them the first ever father/son recipients in the award’s history. This honor is given to a chamber member who has demonstrated high standards of professionalism, innovation in business and an extraordinary commitment to the Glastonbury community. The senior Weir is a well known figure in the Glastonbury business community for over 30 years, and is known for his volunteering and tireless community service. His son Steve obviously inherited his father’s head for business, drive, and sense of community.

“My dad impressed upon me that a good reputation is of utmost importance and that you can’t earn it by being anything other than dependable, trustworthy and honest in your dealings with others” says Weir. “I observed and adopted both my parents’ strong work ethic. During the early years of my life, they both worked more than one job at a time to make ends meet. It was that foundation, coupled with helping others in need through acts of service, which shaped my view of what success means. My family held the belief that anything worth achieving rarely comes easily. I learned that it takes persistence to succeed, sometimes struggling until you reach your goal. This is a great honor for me; I am very appreciative and even more motivated to keep going!”

Steve Weir is the founding member of American Integrity Restoration, LLC (AIR), a disaster restoration contracting company based in Glastonbury, Bridgeport and Stonington, CT. Steve started AIR in mid-2005 with an entrepreneurial dream of self-employment, providing for his family, and helping others in need when disasters occur. Steve recognized that there were no other companies performing these services in the area, and that the need was great for quality restoration contractors. Steve’s natural enthusiasm, dedication, and work ethic, proved contagious as he hired a team of employees that shared his vision of being the best in the business, based on honesty and integrity. Now 35 employees, a short (and very busy) 6 years later, AIR has become a major player in the Connecticut insurance restoration industry through referrals and word of mouth alone. The AIR team is proud of its reputation of quality service and looks forward to the next steps of expansion. Steve is responsible for business planning and large account sales. AIR has seen a miraculous annual sales growth of more than 50% each year since inception. To learn more about Steve and AIR: www.ctrestoration.com.

Steve and his wife Alegra have 3 children; Alexia (10), Julianna (7) and Meredith (3). Steve enjoys activities such as coaching girls’ basketball, volunteering in his church, and mentoring at the Hebron Elementary School. Steve realized a long-term goal of becoming a licensed helicopter pilot in 2008 and enjoys flying whenever life’s schedule and the weather allow.

Steve will be honored at the Glastonbury Chamber’s Annual Dinner on Wednesday, January 25th. The dinner will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Glastonbury Blvd. and will take place from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
