“Doing our part.” DKI member company, American Integrity Restoration is proud to have been selected to be a part of the most recent edition of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In just seven days, the Walker family will have a new home. The family has been too heartbroken after the third floor suicide of their young son to inhabit the upper floors of their Springfield, MA house. A victim of bullying, the 11 year old Carl took his own life, and the family has since has been sleeping on the couch and roll-away beds on the first floor. The house is over 100 years old and in significant disrepair with structural, plumbing and electrical problems. Despite this terrible event, the family has put their time and energy into lobbying for new state and federal laws to help prevent bullying.

American Integrity Restoration (AIR) participated in the recent Glastonbury Apple Harvest Festival 5K and Kids Fun Run. For every runner or walker that joined “Team Hot AIR”, American Integrity Restoration made a donation to Tammy Aston. Tammy, a Hebron resident, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this past June.

“Tammy is an active member of the community, and has a beautiful family. We couldn’t think of a better reason to do something healthy in her name. Not only did most of our staff, friends, family, and business associates get out on a beautiful fall day, but we raised money to help with the enormous costs of treatment for this disease” says Steve Weir, owner of AIR. “We had over 75 people on our team, with many more people finding out about our fundraiser the morning of the race, deciding to don our t-shirt and Team up for Tammy. Even local news celebrity Joe Furey enthusiastically joined up”.

In the end, Team Hot AIR numbered close to 100, winning “Largest Team”, “Fastest Team”, and top finishes in 3 different age groups.

“Like father, like son”. On January 25, 2012, Steve Weir of American Integrity Restoration (AIR) will be honored with the 2011 Business Person of the Year by the Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce. His father, Dennis Weir, won that same award back in 1996, making them the first ever father/son recipients in the award’s history. This honor is given to a chamber member who has demonstrated high standards of professionalism, innovation in business and an extraordinary commitment to the Glastonbury community. The senior Weir is a well known figure in the Glastonbury business community for over 30 years, and is known for his volunteering and tireless community service. His son Steve obviously inherited his father’s head for business, drive, and sense of community.
